Buy the Metabo for ripping solid timber. The double-clamped fence is the specification that decides whether a rip cut stays parallel, and no accessory adds it to a saw that lacks it. At half the price it is the better value by a wide margin.
Buy the Bosch if you regularly break down and square sheet material. A sliding carriage carries the panel past the blade instead of sliding it across a fixed table, which is the only way to keep a wide crosscut square along its whole length.
Aftermarket sleds exist and a shop-made crosscut sled is a sheet of MDF and two runners. Neither matches an integrated carriage running on bearings, but a well-made sled gets a good deal of the way there for the price of the material.
Because a fence that locks square at the front and drifts a fraction of a millimetre at the back burns every rip cut and pinches the offcut against the blade — which is also the mechanism behind most kickback. Clamping at both ends of the rail removes it.
