The end of it The default choice for a router table, and it has been for years. Handheld it is a compromise.
Every figure is a manufacturer specification, read off the
listing itself, and the judgments are ours — drawn from how the
specification behaves in this class of machine and from what long-term
owners consistently report. Where a figure is missing, we say so rather
than fill it in.
What the specification says
2,400 W, dual function — handheld or table-mounted — part number 330165.
The table router problem it solves
Mounting a normal plunge router upside down under a table creates two
frustrations. Changing the height means reaching underneath and fighting a
spring designed to push the machine the other way. And changing a bit means
either removing the router or working blind in a confined space.
Triton’s design addresses both from above the table, through the plate. That is
the entire reason this machine dominates home-built router tables, and it is not
visible in a specification comparison.
Big bit, slow speed — the rule nobody prints on the box
A router bit’s danger and its cut quality both follow rim speed, not
motor speed. A 12 mm (0.47 in) straight bit at 24,000 rpm and a 50 mm (1.97 in) panel-raising
bit at 24,000 rpm are not doing the same thing: the rim of the large bit
is traveling several times faster, which burns the timber, loads the
bearing and — on a bit not rated for it — is how they come apart.
Large-diameter bits must be run slower. That is what electronic speed
control is for, and it is the reason a variable-speed router is not a
convenience but a requirement once you own bits over about 40 mm (1.57 in).
At 2,400 W this is the machine on this page most likely to be swinging a large
panel-raising bit, which makes the speed control load-bearing rather than
optional.

What comes up most often
Why does above-table adjustment matter so much?
Because the alternative is lying on the floor under the table with a torch, every time you change the height by half a millimeter. Routers designed for table use bring the adjustment up through the table plate. It sounds like a convenience and it changes how often you are willing to make a fine adjustment — which is to say, whether the table gets used properly.
Can it be used handheld?
Yes, that is the "dual function", and 2,400 W handheld is a lot of router. For edge work and small profiles a lighter machine is more pleasant; for deep mortices and large bits, the weight is an asset.
