The end of it The complete professional router. Buy it in Britain if you can — the price gap across Europe is €160.
Every figure is a manufacturer specification, read off the
listing itself, and the judgments are ours — drawn from how the
specification behaves in this class of machine and from what long-term
owners consistently report. Where a figure is missing, we say so rather
than fill it in.
What the specification says
A plunge router with electronic speed control, supplied with a parallel fence
with fine adjustment, a template guide adapter, a collet and a 19 mm (0.75 in) wrench.
Part number 0601626001. Bosch does not publish the motor rating, collet capacity
or speed range on this listing.
What is in the box is the point
The accessories listed here are not padding. A fine-adjust parallel fence and a
template guide adapter are the two things that turn a router from a
freehand tool into a precise one, and buying them separately typically costs a
meaningful fraction of the router.
Big bit, slow speed — the rule nobody prints on the box
A router bit’s danger and its cut quality both follow rim speed, not
motor speed. A 12 mm (0.47 in) straight bit at 24,000 rpm and a 50 mm (1.97 in) panel-raising
bit at 24,000 rpm are not doing the same thing: the rim of the large bit
is traveling several times faster, which burns the timber, loads the
bearing and — on a bit not rated for it — is how they come apart.
Large-diameter bits must be run slower. That is what electronic speed
control is for, and it is the reason a variable-speed router is not a
convenience but a requirement once you own bits over about 40 mm (1.57 in).
The “CE” in the name is Bosch’s designation for electronic speed control, which
is what makes running a large bit slowly possible.
The price spread
€307 in Britain, €370 in Germany and France, €411 in Italy, €465 in Spain. Same
reference, same barcode. Britain being the cheapest is unusual and worth acting
on.

What comes up most often
Why does a fine-adjust parallel fence matter?
Because routing a groove to a line is an iterative process: cut, measure, nudge the fence, cut again. A fence you nudge by tapping is a coarse instrument; one with a threaded fine adjustment moves in tenths of a millimeter and repeats. It is the difference between three passes and eight.
What is a template guide adapter for?
It lets you fit a guide bush — a collar around the bit that runs against a template, so the router follows a shape you have already made. Almost all jig work depends on it, and it is often a separate purchase.
