What the specification says

A cyclone pre-separator that mounts on a standard workshop bin.

Why it is the best-value item in the extraction hub

A workshop vacuum loses suction as its filter loads, and a bag fills in an hour of planing. A cyclone stops both by removing the bulk before the machine sees it — so the filter stays clean, the suction stays up, and the consumable you empty is a bin rather than a bag you buy.

At €30 it pays for itself in filter bags within a few months.

What it does not do

It does not improve filtration. See the extraction hub on dust classes: the fine fraction passes straight through a cyclone and is caught, or not, by the filter behind it.

Saws this fits

What comes up most often

How does a cyclone work?

The air enters tangentially and spirals. Heavy particles are thrown outward and fall into the bin below; the much lighter air carries on to the extractor. In practice the great majority of what a saw or a planer produces never reaches the machine at all.

Does it make an L-class vacuum safer?

No, and this is worth being clear about. A cyclone separates bulk, not fines. The fraction that matters for health is light enough to stay in the airstream, and it is the filter — the class rating — that either holds it or does not.
