Every figure below is a manufacturer
specification read off the listing itself. The judgments are ours.
What the specification says
Ø 100 mm (3.94 in), 2.5 m (8 ft), transparent wall.
Keep it short and straight
Every meter of corrugated hose and every bend costs airflow. A 2.5 m (8 ft) run
straight from the machine to the collector performs measurably better than five
meters coiled behind a bench, with the same extractor at the end of it.
Because flow through a duct falls sharply as diameter drops. Reducing a 100 mm (3.94 in) port to a 50 mm (1.97 in) hose leaves a small fraction of the airflow, and a chip collector fed that way can collect less than a workshop vacuum would. Match the hose to the port and keep the run short.
Is transparent hose worth it?
Yes, for one reason: blockages. An offcut wedged in an opaque hose presents as "the extractor has got weaker", which people diagnose as a full bag or a clogged filter. A transparent wall turns a twenty-minute mystery into a five-second look.
