Every figure below is a manufacturer specification read off the listing itself. The judgments are ours.

What the specification says

1,712 × 12 × 0.4 mm (67.4 × 0.47 × 0.02 in), 4 teeth per inch, 6 mm tooth spacing, Uddeholm steel welded in Germany, supplied ready to fit. Part number 120-23335. The manufacturer names softwood, MDF, spruce, pine, birch and chipboard.

Length is a dimension of the machine

Band length is fixed by the wheel spacing and the tension travel of the saw. It is printed in the manual and usually on a plate on the machine itself. A band a centimeter out will not tension, and nothing on the saw will rescue it. Width and tooth pitch are choices you make; length is not one of them.

Thin is not weak

Four tenths of a millimeter is a thin band, and that is deliberate. A thinner band tensions to the right stress with less load on the wheel bearings, follows a curve more willingly and removes less timber in the kerf. What it gives up is stiffness in a deep resaw, where a thicker band wanders less.

What comes up most often

What does 4 TPI suit?

Thicker stock. The working rule is to keep about three teeth in the cut at any moment, so a coarse pitch needs depth to work in. At 4 teeth per inch the gullets are large enough to clear softwood chip from a deep cut, which is exactly where a fine blade packs and burns. On 5 mm (0.20 in) ply the same blade grabs and splinters.

Does the steel actually matter?

For how long the band stays sharp and how well the weld survives repeated flexing, yes. A band is bent round two wheels thousands of times a minute, and most cheap blades fail at the weld rather than at the teeth. What good steel does not change is that a nail will still finish a carbon band in one strike.
