Every figure below is a manufacturer specification read off the listing itself. The judgments are ours.

What the specification says

260 mm (10.2 in), HSS, supplied as a pair. Part number 3902202701.

Setting them is the job, not buying them

A straight-knife cutterhead needs each knife set to the same height, parallel to the outfeed table, usually with a magnetic gauge or a straight edge. Getting it wrong shows up as snipe, ripple or a step at the end of every board.

This is precisely the frustration a helical cutterhead removes — see the planer hub — and it is the reason so many owners eventually pay to convert.

What comes up most often

Why must both knives be changed together?

Because they must sit at exactly the same cutting circle. A new knife next to a worn one projects further, so it takes the entire cut on its own — it dulls at several times the normal rate, and it leaves a ripple pattern that owners routinely mistake for a bearing fault.

HSS or carbide?

HSS is cheaper, takes a keener edge and can be resharpened. Carbide lasts far longer on abrasive material — MDF, reclaimed timber, anything with grit in it — and cannot practically be resharpened at home. For clean solid timber, HSS is the sensible choice.
