Holzmann

Real workshop machinery — and read the voltage before anything else

Holzmann builds workshop machinery rather than consumer tools, and the SB4116HN pillar drill on this site is a genuine floor-standing machine at a fair price.

The specification that decides everything

It requires a 400 V three-phase supply. That appears nowhere in the title, nowhere in the feature list, and only as a suffix on the part number — SB4116HN_400V.

A domestic European supply is single-phase 230 V. Running this machine from one requires a phase converter or a supply upgrade, both of which cost real money and neither of which is mentioned anywhere near the buy button.

A reader who misses it buys a machine that cannot be switched on. It is the first line of that review for exactly that reason.

If you do have three-phase

Then a 1,630 mm (64.2 in) floor-standing pillar drill at €398 in Germany is good value from a maker that supports its machines.
