Einhell TE-PS 165 review

A plunge saw with two meters of aluminum rail for €153 — and no barcode, so we cannot tell you whether it is sold in your country.

The end of it Good value in Germany. Unrecommendable elsewhere, because we cannot confirm it is sold there.

Every figure is a manufacturer specification, read off the listing itself, and the judgments are ours — drawn from how the specification behaves in this class of machine and from what long-term owners consistently report. Where a figure is missing, we say so rather than fill it in.

What the specification says

1,200 W, a 165 mm (6.50 in) blade, and two 1,000 mm (39.4 in) aluminum rail sections in the box. Einhell does not publish the maximum cut depth on this listing.

The rail is the purchase, not the saw

A track saw is bought once and lived with for a decade, because the rail system is what you are committing to. Rails are not reliably interchangeable between brands: the rib the saw rides on differs in width and profile, and a saw running on a rail it was not cut for gives you a chipped edge on the good face.

Two consequences. First, compare systems, not saws — the cost of the extra rails, connectors and clamps you will buy over ten years dwarfs the difference between two machines. Second, the splinter strip on a new rail is a consumable that must be trimmed by the saw that will use it, before the first real cut.

At this price the rails are the value: two meters of aluminum included, where professional systems charge substantially for the first 1.4 m (5 ft) rail alone.

The availability gap

This listing carries no EAN, which means we could not check the French, Italian, Spanish, British or American stores. The reference we hold is German. That is the honest limit of what this page can tell you.

The good side, and the catch

Strengths

  • Two meters of rail in the box, which is what a sheet of plywood actually needs

Compromises

  • No EAN, so we could not confirm it is sold outside Germany
  • Two 1 m (3 ft) sections joined mid-cut is less rigid than a single 1.4 m (5 ft) rail
  • Einhell publishes no cut depth on this listing

What comes up most often

Are two 1 m (3 ft) rails as good as one 2 m (7 ft) rail?

No, and the difference shows up exactly where it matters. A joined rail can flex or step at the joint, which puts a slight kink in the middle of a 2 m (7 ft) cut. Good connectors and careful alignment reduce it; a single-piece rail removes it. For a full sheet, most people eventually buy the longer rail.

Why does the missing barcode matter so much?

Because this site serves readers in six countries. Without an EAN we cannot look the product up on the other stores, so we cannot promise it exists there — and the link on this page sends non-German readers to a local search rather than to a page that may not exist.
