Einhell TC-SB 245 L review

A bigger Einhell than the 200/1 at about €100 more — and a listing that says almost nothing about what the extra buys.

The end of it Probably the better machine, on no published evidence. Ask Einhell for the throat depth and cut height before deciding.

Every figure is a manufacturer specification, read off the listing itself, and the judgments are ours — drawn from how the specification behaves in this class of machine and from what long-term owners consistently report. Where a figure is missing, we say so rather than fill it in.

What the specification says

Nothing beyond the model name and the part number 4308036. No cut height, no throat depth, no motor rating, no guide type.

Why it is here anyway

Because it sits directly above the TC-SB 200/1 in the same range, at about €100 more, and a reader comparing the two deserves to know that the comparison cannot be made from the listings. Einhell’s model numbering usually tracks frame size, which suggests more throat and more height — and suggesting is all anyone can do from this page.

What “resaw” means, and why most of these cannot

Resawing is splitting a board through its thickness — turning one 50 mm (1.97 in) plank into two 22 mm (0.87 in) ones. It is the job a band saw does that no other machine can, and it is the reason serious workshops own one.

It needs three things at once: enough height under the guides, a frame stiff enough to tension a wide blade, and enough power to keep the blade moving through a long cut. A saw with 80 mm (3.15 in) of height cannot resaw anything worth resawing, however good it is at curves — and most saws sold as band saws under €300 are in that group. That is not a fault; it is a different machine, and the listings rarely say so.

The good side, and the catch

Compromises

  • The listing publishes no capacity, no motor rating and no guide type
  • About €100 more than the 200/1 with nothing published to justify it
  • Not sold on amazon.com

What comes up most often

Is this the TC-SB 305 U?

No. We searched for the 305 U and this listing came back; its part number reads 4308036 and its title says TC-SB 245 L. Different machine, so we have written up the one that actually exists at this reference rather than the one we went looking for.

Should I pay €100 more than the 200/1?

Not on the published evidence, because there is none. Einhell numbers usually track frame size, so a larger throat is likely — but likely is not a specification, and we are not going to print one Einhell has not.
