The shadow line, and part numbers you can actually trust
A laser projects a red line near where the blade is supposed to be, so it needs calibrating and it drifts. XPS puts an LED behind the blade and lets the blade cast its own shadow onto the workpiece: the line is the actual kerf, it moves when you change the blade, and there is nothing to align.
On a saw you will own for a decade, that is the difference between a feature and a gimmick. The DWS774 at €294 is the cheapest way onto it on this site.
Three mitre saw listings in our research did not name their model in the title — “DEWALT 1.400 Watt Paneelsäge” and similar. Their part numbers read DWS774-QS and DWS777-QS, which identified them exactly.
DeWalt was the only brand where that field was reliable every single time. It is a small thing that saved this site from publishing two reviews under the wrong model name.
Prices scatter. The DWS777 showed €403 in France and €842 in Spain on the same reference and the same day. Check your own market before ordering.
